In an effort to provide the most up-to-date surgery and medicine, we are utilizing the least invasive (least pain) techniques available. A laparoscopic ovariohysterectomy (spay) is minimally invasive and safer because the entire procedure is performed through a dime-sized incision. While the doctors view the organs via a state-of-the-art camera system, the ovaries and uterus are removed by cauterizing the blood vessels and ligaments. This procedure eliminates tearing of the suspensory ligaments, potential tearing of the body wall, and possible hemorrhaging of the main arteries to the ovaries. This procedure results in much less pain (up to 65%) and much faster recovery.
